I passed!

But it was not with out it’s challenges.

Four star sea kayak is a level of personal skill and in the new UKCC system a qualification which also allows leadership.

On the run up to the assessment it seemed like the course was going to be cancelled as the weather was looking too good, slightly ironic after the spring we have had to endure. Although as the weekend drew closer it became obvious that the low pressure was going to take hold.

And take hold it did as we had to perform rescues of others and ourselves in boufort force 6-7, even though only force 4 is required.

Having had day one as a day for us to strut our stuff and demonstrate our ability day two was a contrast as the wind dropped nicely for us to take out 2 mock students. Both days were in and around Shuna island.

Number of cirumnavigations of Shuna = 2

New four star leaders = 5

Nasty weather on rescues day
