After a rainy November and a very rainy start to December, Hamlet Mountaineering Staff Tim and Laura decided to have a get away and go sport climbing somewhere hot.
El Chorro a place of sunshine, Vitamin D and ice cream! All the right components, oh and a bit of rock climbing as well. It got so hot that we even had to employ some extreme tactics of waiting till dusk or finding crags in the shade.
I would highly recommend a get away in the dark winter months and el chorro has a lot of offer with most of the climbing easily accessible from the B&B (The Old Granary). Everything from grade 3 to 9a! Slabs to overhangs, single pitch, multi-pitch and everything inbetween, I even found a bit of hand jamming and crack climbing. El Chorro really is a climbing paradise.
If you want to try outdoor rock climbing in the winter or learn to lead climb in a fabulous setting book a trip out to El Chorro, Hamlet Mountaineering can offer rock climbing trips on request. Please contact for details.
